OpenAI says that Astra is its first model to reach a "critical" capability threshold in cybersecurity.
During testing, Astra achieved the following:
• 100% on ExploitBench, which evaluates known vulnerabilities
• discovered and used two zero-days in an exploitation chain
• escaped an enhanced browser sandbox
• obtained Root access on a hardened operating system
Under OpenAI's new internal metric, Astra achieved code-execution rates far higher than GPT-5.6 Sol while using far fewer output tokens.
These results were obtained using access to Daybreak Blue, not Astra's default configuration.
OpenAI states that Astra will be available soon, but advanced access to cybersecurity will be limited first.
