Can people in the crypto world really fall asleep in the middle of the night? Falling asleep at 2–3 a.m. is pretty common.
If you’ve never bought crypto, you absolutely can’t come up with this question.
Ten years ago, I and many friends around me all entered the world of BTC and ETH with a mindset of wanting to try it.
That experience back in 2021 is unforgettable—so unforgettable that I couldn’t sleep well at night. BTC surged from $30,000 to $69,000, and ETH also jumped from $700 to $4,800. During that time, even at 1 or 2 a.m., I still couldn’t feel sleepy. Even if I forced myself to sleep, I’d wake up again around 4 or 5 and check my phone—then I’d be unable to sleep again.
We constantly urged friends and relatives in group chats to join in, and we even promoted it heavily on our朋友圈. But all too often, we were treated like sacrifices to a pyramid scheme. As prices kept skyrocketing, we kept chasing the rally—almost crazily.
But good times didn’t last. In 2022, BTC crashed to $16,000, and ETH fell to $900, then spent a long time hovering at low levels. After that, we stopped mentioning it. Only then were we finally able to sleep early at night, though it still quietly hurt in my heart—for the money that had gotten trapped.
As time passed, in 2023 the approval of spot BTC ETFs and the halving event pushed BTC prices higher again, breaking through the $100,000 mark in one go. ETH and other altcoins also performed well. But the Fed’s hawkish policies and market volatility led to price pullbacks again. These wild swings are terrifying and make it hard to sleep soundly at night.
Stepping into 2026, progress on legislation for cryptocurrencies once again triggered market turmoil. Some people cheered, seeing it as an opportunity for industry regulation; others quietly worried, fearing their funds’ safety might be threatened. This uncertainty leaves heavy-position altcoin investors unable to sleep.
Nowadays, people in the crypto world seem to have learned the skill of “remaining calm when conditions change.” Market swings no longer affect their sleep. But whenever the market brings major news—like policy changes or technical breakthroughs—they still toss and turn, unable to fall asleep.
Life in the crypto world is just like that: full of thrills and unknowns. Whether you can fall asleep peacefully at night depends on your position size and where the market is headed. But no matter what, staying rational and calm is the way to survive long term. @渔歌趋势 #龙虾
