At Solana Summit Serbia, the HiveBits project (https://x.com/hivebits_io) presented an unusual example of RWA and DePIN — “smart” beehives.
IoT sensors monitor temperature, humidity, weight, and the activity of a bee colony, and the data is transmitted to blockchain infrastructure. The physical beehive itself can be represented via an NFT tied to a specific IoT node.
Most interesting is the economic model. The owner of such an NFT can access hive data and take part in the distribution of revenues from produced honey and other products. At the same time, it’s not a guaranteed profit: the yield depends on the season, weather, and other factors.
This is an interesting example of how RWA + DePIN can work not only with real estate or financial assets, but even with… bees 🐝
