After Filecoin Onchain Cloud went live, storage becomes “verifiable, programmable” infrastructure
By the end of March, Filecoin Onchain Cloud officially launched on the mainnet.
The core change isn’t just “storing a bit more,” but that storage itself now has:
• On-chain Proof of Data Possession (verified every 24 hours)
• Smart-contract-driven automatic payments (payments stop if proofs are interrupted)
• Default dual replication, across independent storage providers
• Payment and call interfaces designed for AI agents and automated pipelines
Early data: in the initial launch phase, there were already about 49 TiB of data, 478 active datasets, and more than 80 connected payment wallets.
Combined with the NV28 “Fire Horse” upgrade in late May (smart contracts can query sector health status and expiry time in real time, Passkey login, etc.), Filecoin is upgrading “storing data” into a programmable, verifiable storage layer that can be directly called by contracts.
