📊 Netflix turned FTX into a TV series. This time, they’ve swapped in actors to play SBF and Ellison.

It launches on November 19, with the title “The Altruists.” Julia Garner plays Caroline Ellison, and Anthony Boyle plays Sam Bankman-Fried. Garner is also serving as an executive producer.

The casting is pretty vicious. Garner previously played Anna Delvey—the con woman who fleeced New York’s high society in “Inventing Anna.” This time she plays Ellison; the character is still “a genius girl,” and the ending is still that she falls for her lies. Boyle just rose to fame with “Masters of the Air,” and now he’s playing SBF, complete with those signature wild, disheveled locks.

What’s interesting is what comes next. FTX has been collapsed for almost four years, and crypto insiders have chewed this case to death already. Netflix is only serving it now. That suggests the story has shifted from a “crypto scandal” into a mainstream commodity—front and center on the streaming homepage for everyone to see.

The satire is there, too. Back then, SBF and Ellison talked nonstop about “effective altruism,” claiming they wanted to change the world. Now it’s become just another episode on a production line. The harshest lesson in the crypto world—packaged by Hollywood and sold as tickets.

Four years after the blowup, nobody expected there would be an episode like this. But it’s here.
