I realize that in Binance P2P, what most easily causes sellers to make mistakes is not necessarily complicated trading, but the pressure to release crypto quickly.
It seems the issue isn’t in the words the counterparty uses, but in how I react to friction. When they rush, signal and noise get mixed up; “I’ve transferred money” is a notification—not proof that the funds have arrived.
What’s interesting isn’t the escrow holding the crypto, but the mental model behind it. Crypto is held in escrow, but the seller still needs to confirm they’ve received the payment before releasing. In case of a dispute, Binance allows an appeal and review of the evidence.
It sounds convincing, but escrow can’t replace verification behavior. However, that’s only true if I can maintain discipline. It’s not about responding quickly—it’s about responding based on evidence.
At least from my perspective, when I’m pressured, I’ll stick to the process, save the evidence, and appeal if needed. I’m still not sure where the real risk lies, and I have the feeling that the bigger question is about incentives.
