This afternoon, I just received 80$ gifts from the new-user invitation event in July.
I was scrambling to find a merchant to conduct a USDT sell transaction when an older brother sitting next to me told me a story about something that recently happened to him in a P2P withdrawal transaction that really annoyed him—and almost made him lose faith in P2P trading altogether.
The story is that around midnight, he planned to withdraw his profit. He went ahead and placed a trade order as usual. Then he encountered a shady merchant. They neither transferred the money nor pressed to confirm the order, and they also did not press to cancel it. Instead, they made him wait for nearly the full 15 minutes, thinking the order would be cancelled so he could trade with a different order.
But no. That shady merchant waited until the very last seconds and then pressed “confirm” that the payment had been made—even though they hadn’t transferred anything. They exploited the user’s sense of urgency and irritation when having to wait. In situations like this, it’s very easy to be tricked by those “proof screenshots” that someone has photo-shopped showing payment as completed. After that, he checked his bank account and found no money—leading the two sides to dispute and request Binance’s help to resolve the situation. Of course, everything was eventually sorted out, but it took nearly an hour to go back and forth to file and handle the complaint, which was quite frustrating.
I really hope Binance can find a way to deal with merchants who intentionally engage in bad behavior through feedback/comments during the complaint process, or by voting/ratings. For example, if they receive below 4 stars, they should be banned from trading for one week; if they have more than 3 unfair complaint orders with sufficient evidence, then they should be permanently banned from trading.
I hope Binance takes strong measures to handle merchants with malicious intent like this.
