P2P payment shortage: When should you negotiate, and when should you open an appeal immediately? 💸⚡

Recently, I sold 1,863.2 USDT on Binance P2P to a reputable trader (15k+ orders, 95.7% completion rate). However, when I checked my banking app, the amount I actually received was short by a small amount compared to the order value.

Instead of panicking and opening an appeal right away, I handled it step by step:

Keep the status unchanged: Absolutely DO NOT release the USDT until the money is fully received.

Message directly via P2P Chat: Clearly state the shortfall amount along with screenshots showing the balance changes.

Assess the counterpart’s attitude: The trader admitted the mistake immediately, processed the transfer of the remaining short amount within a few minutes, and politely asked not to open an appeal so it wouldn’t affect their account.

Final confirmation: Open the banking app to verify that Total received = Order value ➡️ then release the USDT.

💡 Lessons learned for handling Payment Mismatch:

Negotiation case: The issue is a minor misunderstanding, the counterpart cooperates, responds quickly, and proactively transfers the missing amount right away in the P2P Chat.

Open-appeal case: The shortfall is large, the counterpart ignores/fixes excuses, pressures you to release the coin before compensating, or the account information doesn’t match.

Don’t rely on screenshots or empty promises — only release Crypto when the number in the Banking App reaches the exact milestone! 🛡️
