I WAS CERTAIN: I WILL BRING bSTOCK IN MY WALLET — AND FINALLY SEE EVERYTHING MYSELF. BUT THERE’S A CATCH 😅
Self-custody for me was associated with a simple thing:
my assets → my wallet → I control everything
And logically, along with control, I’ll see more.
Then I started digging into how wallets display bStocks.
Imagine that a smart contract holds 10 bStock.
After a corporate action, Binance can apply a Multiplier, and the adjusted balance in the interface will look like 10.08.
And an external wallet, if it doesn’t support this mechanism, will simply show:
10
First thought: “Wait. Where did the 0.08 go?”
They didn’t disappear anywhere. It’s just that one interface understands an extra layer of bStock mechanics, while another honestly shows the raw balance from the contract.
And this is where the product essence becomes clear: bStock is a certificate backed by a 1:1 stock that provides economic exposure to the price—not voting rights or shareholder status. It trades 24/7.
This flipped my understanding of self-custody. I was used to thinking: more control = more information 🤓.
But that’s not necessarily true. You can fully control an asset—and at the same time use an interface that explains it worse.
So now I’m also responsible for figuring out what exactly I’m looking at )))
