📌 LOSS OF NEARLY 12 MILLION USD DUE TO FAKE CRYPTO RECRUITMENT SCHEMES
🚨 According to statistics from Singapore police, recruitment-related scams impersonating jobs in the crypto industry have caused losses of about 11.8 million USD.
👉 The scam usually starts on LinkedIn, when hackers pose as recruiters and contact employees in the crypto field. After an interview via Google Meet, the victim is asked to complete a code test on the company-provided laptop.
💻 During the test, the fake website or tool can silently install malicious code onto the device. From there, the hacker looks for ways to bypass authentication layers, take over access to the code repository, and expand control into the internal systems.
💰 Once the attacker gains sufficient access, they can reach critical systems and ultimately steal the company’s crypto assets.
⚠️ What’s especially frightening is that the victim may initially have no idea they are being attacked. For crypto companies, even a single employee laptop can become a weakness that enables hackers to penetrate the entire system.
