I used to think I was a seasoned P2P trader, so I didn’t need to read partner profiles carefully anymore—until a near-miss involving a trap where the account name was changed mid-way.

That day, I sold USDT to someone with a badge. The completion rate looked fine, so I only glanced and created the order right away. A few minutes later, the buyer messaged: “My bank account name on the order is locked. Please transfer it to a different account number instead—the name is slightly different.”

I was about to agree just to get it done quickly, but I stopped in time. Verifying the payout account name against the order details is a step I always remind others about—and I almost skipped it myself.

I asked them to cancel the order and create a new one with the correct information, keeping all the conversation in the Binance chat so I’d have proof. The buyer immediately changed their tone, constantly urging me: “Send it quickly before time runs out,” then went silent when I firmly refused to release to an account with a mismatched name. I reported the order, and Binance Support handled it smoothly right after.

The lesson I learned: years of experience can’t replace careful checking every time. Matching the account name takes 10 seconds, but it’s exactly that step that saved me from a much bigger problem.
