Weekend spent building blocks with the kids until my hands were shaking. A quant old-timer friend suddenly messaged: “You say if everything on-chain is fully public, that’s safe—so why won’t the institutions ever step in?”
I stared at the blocks for two seconds. The question was flipped—institutions aren’t afraid that being public is unsafe; they’re afraid of “privacy that can’t be audited.” Dusk splits these into two parts: the Moonlight account model is fully transparent, while the Phoenix account uses zero-knowledge proofs to hide the details. The network only recognizes the conclusions, not the process. You can choose to be public, or choose to be private—it's not an either/or.
Following this thread, the NPEX case is pretty concrete—€300 million in assets, 20,000 investors, with real money moved onto the chain. The pledged amount also passed 210 million DUSK. But DuskEVM is still on the testnet, and the Dusk Trade waitlist conversion rate can’t be predicted by anyone right now. If these numbers don’t hit targets, then the earlier story is all for nothing.
Whether it will succeed—I don’t know. But watching the real flow speed of that NPEX fund is still better than blindly jumping into random trades.
