One point from today’s closing data of Nvidia that’s worth highlighting: the broader market only rose a modest 0.54% that day, while NVDA itself gained 3.03%, closing at $224.09. It’s just 0.45% below the 20-day high at $225.10, clearly outperforming the broader market. This is the previous trading day’s closing price, not real-time intraday data.

Looking over a longer window of 5 days, NVDA is up 2.22% while the Nasdaq is up 0.85% over the same period—NVDA outperforms the broader market by 1.37 percentage points. It also comes out with a bullish alignment: MA5 is above MA10, MA10 is above MA20; price is 1.67% above MA5 and 7.54% above MA20; RSI is 62.43, and it’s not overheated yet. Volume is only 0.87 times the average volume of the past 20 days. So even with such a big move, volume hasn’t expanded meaningfully—this isn’t a surge pushed purely by sentiment.

On the news front, one item making the rounds today is that SpaceX has shifted its chip purchases to exclusive use of Nvidia, which the market interprets as not good news for AMD. Also, the Nasdaq’s strength today was supported by a mildly warm CPI reading, plus the overall “AI positive news” factor. So this strength versus weakness isn’t simply about broad sector-wide rally—it looks more like NVDA ran ahead within its peer group. The broader market’s rise couldn’t fully support NVDA’s move; the gap is basically NVDA-specific.

Structurally, the resistance to watch above is the 20-day high at 225.10; being above it would count as a breakout from the recent consolidation range. The first support below is MA5 at 220.42. Even if it dips below that, as long as MA10 at 213.57 and MA20 at 208.38 hold, the bullish alignment itself hasn’t been broken—it’s just that near-term momentum is cooling off.

Zooming out to the crypto market: this week, both NVDA and the Nasdaq are rising, but BTC over the past 5 days is down -1.92% (current price 63659.38, up 0.41% today). The risk appetite in tech stocks and the crypto market this week are actually diverging—there isn’t a synchronized correlation. Just keep that in mind.

How do you see this outperformance—does the weight of the SpaceX news matter enough, or is it purely driven by broader market sentiment? Drop your thoughts in the comments. This is just my personal review, not investment advice; NFA / DYOR
