The Strait of Hormuz is still blocked, and oil prices are stuck around 9—they just won’t come down. The IEA says, “We’re not happy anymore,” and that this quarter the world will use about 1.8 million fewer barrels of crude. Trump on the other side is bragging that the “Steel Great Wall” has fully taken control of the Strait of Hormuz—while Iran immediately fires back: if they can’t talk it out, you won’t be able to open it.

What’s funny is that both sides are throwing nonstop verbal shots, but the money is actually burning. Yet when the July CPI came out, it was okay; the market thinks the Fed is likely to stay put in September (a 62% bet). The moment the news hit, gold jumped straight above 1,400.

Now that’s getting interesting. Geopolitical tensions are fueling safe-haven sentiment, and liquidity expectations are also improving—one on the left, one on the right. In the Asia session, funds are the most sensitive to this kind of drama: gold has gone absolutely wild. Will crypto follow suit? We’ll see.
