BlockBeats message, August 11: Iran’s highest national security council secretary Rezaei issued a statement: “The United States is the maker of insecurity in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. By imposing an illegal war on Iran, it has put the entire region in danger. As long as the United States does not change its behavior and does not accept Iran’s conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened. The United States must end the war, pay the frozen Iranian funds, and the war in the entire region—including in Lebanon and Gaza—must come to an end. In addition, other conditions conveyed to the U.S. through intermediaries must also be met. If Iran reaches an agreement with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz transit passage, that agreement will be handled separately from the issue of the blockade of the strait.”
