Common P2P Fraud Schemes & Typical Risks
Although the platform has escrow, risks often arise from fraudulent actions outside the system or bank-related financial fraud:
A. Risks for SELLERS (Selling Crypto for VND)
1. Fake Payment Proof: Scammers take screenshots of a fake money transfer or send SMS impersonating a bank, claiming "payment received." They urge you to click "Payment received" (Release Crypto).
2. "Dirty" Funds & Bank Account Lock (Money-laundering scam via triangular flow/scam laundering): Bad actors use hacked accounts or money from other scams to transfer to you. A few days later, the victim reports to the police/bank, resulting in your bank account being frozen for investigation.
3. Payment via a Third Party: The sender’s name on the banking app does not match the KYC name on Binance. The other party may then file a bank claim that it was a "mis-transfer" to reclaim the funds.
4. Chargeback (Cancel transaction / Refund): Use payment methods that allow reversing a transaction (such as PayPal, credit cards, etc.) to withdraw the money after you’ve already received the coins.
B. Risks for BUYERS (Using VND to buy Crypto)
1. Tempting you to cancel the order after you’ve transferred money: The seller cites "network error" or "the system is stuck" to get you to click "Cancel order," promising they will refund you off-platform. When you cancel the order, Binance’s escrow is released, and the seller disappears with the money.
2. Impersonation of Support Staff (Fake Customer Service): Fraudsters message you via Zalo/Telegram or a phone number, claiming to be "Binance customer service" and requesting you provide OTPs, passwords, or transfer more money to release collateral.
3. Tempting off-platform trading (Off-platform trading) #BinanceP2PAnToan
