Bitcoin Plummets to US$87,000, Long Liquidations Nearly Rp16 Trillion

Selling pressure in the crypto market is deepening. The price of Bitcoin (BTC) fell to around US$87,000 or down 4.61% in the last 24 hours, triggering a wave of massive liquidations in the derivatives market.

Data from CoinMarketCap recorded that 180,109 traders were eliminated, with a total of long positions liquidated reaching US$998 million or about Rp16 trillion. This movement confirms the fragility of leverage positions amid high volatility.

Negative sentiment was triggered by rising global macroeconomic concerns. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed plans for a 10% import tariff against European Union allies, exacerbating international trade tensions.

The situation intensified after US President Donald Trump reiterated ambitions to annex Greenland. Strong rejection from NATO countries such as Germany, France, and the Netherlands was met with threats of tariff increases on their products, pushing the global market into risk-off mode.
