It’s time for the evening recap.
Today, BTC has still been grinding in the 64,000 to 65,000 range. ETH keeps holding around 1,900. XRP repeatedly tests the $1 level. By the end of the whole day, the candlestick chart looks like an electrocardiogram—everything stays within a hand’s width, never exceeding it either way.
Many people ask me, why isn’t the broader market moving again? The truth is, it doesn’t want to move—it’s waiting for two people to reply to messages.
One is the legislative CLARITY Act. Originally, everyone treated the August recess as the deadline, but in the end, after negotiations between the two parties, they still couldn’t reach an agreement. They just threw out the line, “September then.” It feels like you’re waiting to meet your date on the weekend—only to get a message on Friday night saying, “Next month.” Whether you were up or down at that point doesn’t matter; you’re just numb. That’s exactly how the market feels right now: numb and stuck.
Another factor is rate hikes. In July, the nonfarm payrolls missed by over 20,000 jobs, yet the unemployment rate still keeps falling—data are contradicting itself. The Fed didn't act this time, but the hawkish tone is clearly getting stronger. The market has already priced the odds of a September rate hike above 60%. There are policy issues hanging over from above, and rate-hike pressure from below—longs and shorts on both sides don't dare to go heavy. Naturally, the overall market is stuck in the middle and can't move.
So the reason for today's up or down is, plain and simple, four words: no news, no new news. That's the biggest news. A short-term delay in approval doesn't mean it's a bearish signal—it just pushes the catalyst further out.
Tomorrow's outlook: I'm inclined to continue ranging. Unless XRP's $1 threshold shows a breakout with volume, or breaks down below it, chances are it will just keep chopping. The real direction will have to wait for the FOMC on September 16—that will be the turning point of this cycle.
Trading advice: In this kind of market, don't guess the direction—manage your position sizing. Don't fire all your bullets into the noise of consolidation, and don't use high leverage to bet on a catalyst that hasn't arrived yet. Those who wait often live longer than those who rush.
Oh, and today's Coldcard cold wallet incident is also a reminder: even the safest hardware should have its firmware updated. Don't treat something staying still as security.
See you tomorrow, peace
