The Mainnet approach is more structured. There are no public publishers available without authentication, mainly because publishing data consumes both SUI and WAL. To support transparency, Walrus maintains an official list of aggregators and publishers for both Testnet and Mainnet, as well as a list of operators in JSON format. This JSON list adds practical details such as whether the aggregator supports caching and whether it is currently functional. It is updated weekly to accurately reflect the network status.
Another important point is file size. Most public services limit uploads to 10 MB. For larger files or production needs, it becomes necessary to run your own publisher, ensuring full control and scalability.
