Walrus (WAL) Feels like "Missing Utility" that Web3 needed

If you've spent time in cryptocurrency, you've noticed something interesting. Everyone is talking about decentralization, but at the moment you peek behind the curtain, many applications still rely on the same thing: centralized storage. Transactions happen on the network, of course, but the actual files are often somewhere else. Images, gaming assets, user uploads, datasets… these things typically live on a server controlled by a single provider. And that means the application can still be "turned off" in practice.

The walrus was created to reduce this risk. WAL is the token behind the Walrus protocol, which enables secure and private interactions on the blockchain, while also giving developers a decentralized way to store large files. It operates in the Sui ecosystem and uses blob storage for heavy data, then distributes it across the network using erasure coding so that the file can still be recovered even if part of the network goes down. I like this idea because it doesn’t try to be flashy. It tries to make Web3 applications reliable—something you can count on.
