I keep seeing people call $BABY deflationary like it’s already a fixed part of the token model, but I don’t think it’s that simple yet.
Yes, Babylon has a burn mechanism. When Bitcoin Secured Networks send staking rewards into Babylon Genesis, those rewards go through an on-chain auction. Participants bid using BABY and the winning BABY amount gets burned permanently.
That part is real.
But the other side matters too. New BABY is still entering circulation through emissions and those emissions don’t wait for adoption. They continue according to the protocol schedule, while burns depend on actual network usage, reward flow and auction demand.
So for me the real question isn’t whether BABY can become deflationary.
It’s whether activity across Babylon grows enough for burns to consistently become larger than emissions and future unlocks.
That’s why I’m not judging this model from integrations or partnership announcements alone. A new BSN only becomes meaningful for the token if it creates real staking activity and sends enough rewards through the burn auction.
The numbers I’d personally watch are simple: how much BABY is being burned, how quickly that figure is growing and whether it’s actually catching up with new supply.
The deflationary potential is there, but usage still has to prove it.
