BlockBeats message: On July 27, Ondo Finance announced the launch of a new Ondo Network, positioning it as a high-performance execution layer designed to combine the trade speed of centralized exchanges (CEXs) with the non-custodial, secure settlement capabilities of blockchains.

Ondo CEO Ian De Bode said that Ondo Network is an “evolved version” of the earlier Ondo Chain plan. The company will not run two separate networks at the same time; instead, it will adjust the original roadmap of building a complete blockchain to focus on an execution-layer architecture.

According to the announcement, Ondo initially planned to move real-world assets fully on-chain via Ondo Chain. However, after developing an Ondo Perps perpetual contract trading platform and communicating with users, the company found that the key bottleneck in the current market is not asset settlement, but trading execution efficiency.

Ondo Network uses an architecture that separates execution, verification, and settlement. By isolating the execution environment with secure hardware, it improves transaction speed while maintaining user asset self-custody, verifiable trading, and permissionless blockchain characteristics.

Currently, Ondo Perps has become the first application built on this network. It supports 24-hour trading of stock and large-lot commodity perpetual contracts and allows tokenized real-world assets to be used as collateral.

Ondo states that in the future, the network can also support applications such as spot trading, lending, and structured products—applications that require high performance, privacy protection, and verifiable execution.

Additionally, launching on the Ondo Network will not change the positioning of the ONDO token. The CEO said that ONDO will continue to serve as a governance and incentive token for the Ondo RWA ecosystem and market infrastructure. As the network gradually becomes more decentralized, ONDO will be used to coordinate incentive mechanisms among validator nodes, observers, and ecosystem participants.
