In August, there will be an additional “eCash”—and it’s not the same thing as the XEC in your hands.

A Bitcoin Core developer has announced plans to carry out a Bitcoin hard fork, also named eCash. They claim that people who hold Bitcoin can receive the new coins 1:1, and that they’ll also activate a scaling feature called Drivechains. The name alone caused an uproar in the community—most reactions were negative. First, it clashes so hard with the existing XEC project that the naming overlaps nearly perfectly. Second, this move involves reallocating some old coins from the early Bitcoin era, which has sparked significant controversy.

This directly affects your XEC. When something with the same name appears, it can easily lower exposure in search results, and some of the community’s attention gets diverted—people may end up seeing it mixed together with the real eCash project. In the short term, this is a sentiment negative.

Meanwhile, XEC’s own line hasn’t been idle either. The official team has continued pushing scaling and everyday payment use cases according to the original plan. The goal is still the old saying—building network cash that you can spend every day.

At this point, the XEC project itself has no issues. The problem is that this August “imposter” will be coming. Just be careful not to buy the wrong thing, and don’t let this wave of negative sentiment distract you from judging the project itself.#XEC $XEC
