When I was placing my order, I suddenly realized I no longer纠结 about whether a seller is trustworthy. Instead, what matters more to me is whether the platform provides guarantees, a seven-day no-reason return policy, shipping insurance, and a robust after-sales service. Later, when I thought it through carefully, I realized that we’re willing to pay confidently not because every merchant is worthy of trust, but because the platform first sets up the transaction rules. The more complete the rules, the smoother the transactions—and the less risk consumers have to bear.
With this in mind, I reread the white paper of @NewtonProtocol and suddenly noticed that the focus it puts on issues is a bit different from what many people have been discussing. The market seems to prefer talking about AI, agents, and automation, but this entire white paper spends more time discussing protocol rules, execution logic, and how different participants can build trustworthy collaboration. At first, I felt these topics weren’t that eye-catching. But the further I read, the more I felt this is actually the part that truly determines the value of an underlying infrastructure.
Many people hope that AI can help them complete more and more on-chain actions. But without a unified, transparent, and verifiable set of rules, even the smartest agents only improve execution efficiency—they may not necessarily reduce risk. In the real world, e-commerce, payments, and logistics have developed to where they are today not because every participant is trustworthy, but because everyone conducts transactions under the same set of rules. For Web3 to achieve broader adoption, I believe it needs similar foundational capabilities.
This is also how I understand the Mainnet Beta. It doesn’t just mean the network has entered a new stage; it’s about continuously validating in real conditions whether the designs in the whitepaper can withstand the tests of actual use. Whether the rules are stable enough, whether execution matches expectations, and whether different applications can form reliable collaboration—these may not sound as exciting as hot topics, but they determine how far the future ecosystem can go.
After reading the full whitepaper, my biggest takeaway is that true infrastructure rarely stands in the spotlight. It won’t be constantly introducing new concepts every day, and it won’t prove its value through short-term hype. It’s more like highways, power grids, or payment systems—people don’t talk about them much in everyday life, but the development of all applications depends on them. That’s also why I’m more focused on the underlying rules that @NewtonProtocol aims to establish—not just the AI itself. If, in the future, more and more developers can build applications around these rules, and more users can complete on-chain interactions in a more predictable environment, then the value carried by $NEWT may come not only from the progress of a single project, but from the ongoing maturation of the entire Web3 infrastructure.
