According to the terms of the agreement, the US will end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, coordinate with other countries to help Iran access about 300 billion USD for infrastructure reconstruction, and simultaneously lift economic sanctions.
Former Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy questioned what Iran gained from the deal, suggesting that the U.S. was previously 'squeezing Iran's economy' with sanctions. He suspects that pressure from low approval ratings and the upcoming midterms may have influenced Trump's decision.
