ESMA has demanded that crypto companies without MiCA leave the EU market

✍️ The European regulator ESMA reminded that starting July 1, 2026, crypto platforms without a MiCA license must cease servicing clients from the European Union.

🗣️ Companies are required to prepare a winding-down plan in advance and notify users.

⌛ Experts estimate that only about 200 companies have received MiCA licenses, while around 3000 crypto firms were previously operating in the region. As a result, up to 75% of platforms may exit the European market.

⛏ For users, this means possible service blockages, halting of deposits, and the need to withdraw funds from platforms that have not received permission to operate in the EU.

⚠️ France has taken a particularly hard stance, where companies face hefty fines and criminal liability for violating MiCA requirements.

🔗 New rules have already impacted the stablecoin market. Several major exchanges have started to restrict or delist USDT for European clients, preferring regulated alternatives like USDC.

⏱ MiCA is gradually becoming the main regulatory standard for the crypto market in Europe, and the coming months will show which companies can adapt to the new requirements.
