According to AFP, EU Industry Commissioner Thierry Breton said that the European Parliament, the Commission and member states are working together to "further clarify" the rules on ChatGPT-type (general artificial intelligence) technology systems and plan to discuss the final version of the AI Bill from April.
“As ChatGPT has demonstrated, AI solutions can offer huge opportunities for businesses and citizens, but they can also bring risks. That’s why we need a solid regulatory framework to ensure trustworthy AI based on high-quality data,” Breton said.
The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, first announced plans for an AI rulebook in April 2021, and the European Parliament hopes to finalize the text of its preferred AI bill this month.
