The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued a law establishing the Abu Dhabi Artificial Intelligence Council (AIATC).
The council will be responsible for developing and implementing AI policies, including research, infrastructure, and investment. According to the Abu Dhabi government media office, the council will also work with local and global partners to develop plans and research programs to advance Abu Dhabi’s AI status.
The UAE President has appointed Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the chairman of AIATC, and Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the deputy chairman. The move is in line with the emirate’s ambition to become a global hub for advanced technology investment, partnership, and talent.
