BlockBeats news, on March 16, (Israel Times) reporter Emanuel Fabian reported that he became a target of harassment and death threats from users of the prediction market Polymarket due to his accurate reporting on the Iranian missile attack.

On March 10, an Iranian ballistic missile struck the city of Beit Shemesh, located on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The reporter stated in the report that the missile hit an open area and did not cause any casualties. In the following days, the reporter received numerous emails and WhatsApp messages requesting changes to the report, claiming that what actually fell was debris from an interceptor missile.

It is reported that Polymarket users bet over $14 million on 'Will Iran attack Israel on March 10?'. The platform's rules state that intercepted missiles do not count as an 'attack'. If the reporter modifies the report, it will ensure they win a huge prize.

Since then, the methods of threats have continuously escalated, with some people forging screenshots of the reporter's emails, and others exerting pressure through their colleagues and promising a share, ultimately evolving into direct death threats. A threatener claiming to be Haim stated that if the reporter does not modify the report leading to their loss of $900,000, they will invest no less than that amount to 'settle' the reporter.

Currently, the reporter has reported to the police, and the Israeli police are investigating. The reporter stated that their reporting will not change due to threats, but is concerned that other reporters, if promised a share, may find it difficult to uphold professional ethics. Last month, some Israeli reservists and civilians were already prosecuted for using confidential information to bet on prediction platforms.
