Whitelisting is an additional security feature offered by Binance. If the whitelist withdrawal feature is disabled, your account can make withdrawals to any address. But when this feature is enabled, your account will only be able to make withdrawals to addresses on the whitelist.
In other words, the addresses on your whitelist will be the only ones that can receive funds from your Binance Exchange account. A function which is therefore particularly useful because if you are the victim of phishing and a hacker manages to compromise your account, he will not be able to withdraw your money.
How to activate it
Once logged into your Binance account, go to your account page and scroll down to the “Manage Withdrawal Address” tool. Activate the button and you will see a confirmation window like this:
After clicking OK, you will need to enter your 2FA code. If your 2FA is disabled, we strongly recommend that you enable it.
After that, click on the Address Management button. You will be redirected to another page, where you can select which coins (cryptocurrencies) can be withdrawn and the corresponding addresses. After choosing the cryptocurrency, insert a reference and the withdrawal address to whitelist. Make sure the address provided is correct, check the box, then click Submit.
You will be prompted to enter your 2FA code once again and you will receive a confirmation email shortly after.
Click Confirm Add to complete the process. The following message is then displayed:
Now that your BNB withdrawal address has been whitelisted, you can access your Binance account and view the withdrawals page.
As you can see, you will only be able to withdraw BNB coins to this particular address (or to any other address that you eventually add to your whitelist). This means that it is impossible to forward to an address that is not on this whitelist.
You should always have the whitelist withdrawal feature enabled, to provide an extra level of security for your funds.
