Today we continue our NFT special. The previous article mentioned that high-quality NFT is actually a profit amplifier. Currently, Ethereum is in a low valuation range, and high-quality NFT has the property of 2-3 times the value. Then, with the doubling of Ethereum, it is possible to stably expand the profit to 20 times.
The project we are talking about today is from the BAYC series, and it is also in the top five in the history of transaction list. We have analyzed BAYC before. It is currently the top NFT, bar none. Recently, they have also launched the blockchain game otherside, and this NFT is the resource (land) of the blockchain game, which is a bit similar to the land in decentraland. It should have fallen to its historical low at present, unlike Azuki which has rebounded strongly. Let's see if it has any chance.
Introduction
Otherside is a metaverse game that aggregates various NFT projects. It is jointly developed by Yuga Labs, the parent company of "Boring Ape", and Animoca Brands, the NFT game publisher. Its characters include "star projects" such as BAYC, CryptoPunks, and Meebits.
On April 30, 2022, Yuga Labs announced that it will launch a new NFT specially designed for this game-"Otherdeed", which is the virtual land certificate in Otherside.
Land quantity and distribution
The maximum supply of 0therdeed NFT is 200,000. 100,000 were minted during the first batch of releases, of which 55,000 NFTs were publicly sold at a price of 305 APE (approximately 2ETH), used only for APE token settlement, and were snapped up in 159 minutes - empty (equivalent to $217 million at the time): 30,000 Free allocation to BAYC and MAYC holders: 15,000 were airdropped to the Yuga team and other project developers.
Game content
Initially, users will experience Otherside through a narrative gaming experience called “The Traveler’s Journey,” built on M² technology and co-developed by Yuga Labs and Improbable.
There are five land types: Biotic Swamp, Chemical Slime, Rainbow Atmosphere, Cosmic Dream and Infinite Expanse. Your Otherdeed is the key to unique environments, deposits and treasures - some are resources, some are home to powerful artifacts. On rare occasions a Koda will roam your land, currently only 10% of lands have a Koda. Then these lands are expensive (5.5Eth and up)
There is no specific description of what Koda is in the official documents. Only after subsequent game development can we know their specific functions. Here is the official description:
Meet the Kodakians, primitive creatures that lead us into another world. We don’t know why they brought us here or what they think of this land. If you are lucky enough to encounter a Koda, proceed with caution.
Each plot of land can cultivate four complementary resources that you will be able to harvest and utilize. Anima, Ore (ore), Shard (ceramic), and Root (plant). Some are rare, others not so rare. These are the raw materials you will use to shape this world.
Scattered across the lands of Otherside are rare items, some of which cannot be crafted by other means. If you find an artifact, be aware that it may hold secrets to the world’s expanding future.
Games
The game combines the mechanics of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and web3-enabled virtual worlds. You can think of it as a metaRPG where players own the world, your NFTs become playable characters, and thousands of players can play games together in real time.
Its mission is to make Otherside immersive, interactive, and collaborative in a way that has never been done before. So in the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons, Otherside will be an evolving experience co-created with your players. Plus, you can take part in prototyping, demos, and testing to shape the final game design and experience.
With Improbable's M2 technology, more than 10,000 players will be able to interact simultaneously in one place, engage in natural voice chat (even among crowds of thousands), and experience rich, immersive gameplay powered by artificial intelligence and physics , and move between virtual worlds. Players on the other side will push past barriers of scale, bandwidth, and rendering to create new gameplay and social possibilities.
Just as the quality of a game's graphics is limited by the processing power of a PC, the size of metadata will be limited by how many communication operations, or "operations," can be processed per second. A typical online game world can handle about 10,000 operations per second. The other side will be able to handle more than 500 million operations per second, which will power new gameplay and interactions at an unprecedented scale.
It will also solve bandwidth and rendering issues, use machine learning to make large groups of people look different, and allow you and others to bring your own external NFT characters to the other side.
Otherdeed NFT Unique Characteristics
1. Dynamic NFT
A unique feature of Otherdeeds is that they are considered dynamic NFTs. This means that the characteristics of Otherdeeds can be changed based on the player's actions in the game. Having an interchangeable feature means that there will be opportunities to add or remove resources from a user's land, creating a secondary market for each individual item (that is, these things on the land can be sold, and the price of one Koda is now 4eth)
There are currently 5 main features on the land:
1.Environment
2. Sediment
3. Resources (dynamic)
4.Artifacts (dynamic) (shared items)
5. Code (dynamic)
Each otherdeed contains - environment and sediment. Resources, Artifacts and Kodas are replaceable. In terms of rarity, Kodas and Artifacts are relatively rare. That is, players can build their own land by collecting the four resources described above.
2. ODK
The Otherside Development Kit (ODK) refers to a set of “Creation Tools” built by Improbable that allow users to create interoperable content for Otherside, mainly divided into three categories:
Persona - This includes your account, friend list, and who you are in Otherside.
Location - This is the world in which you can move using the common game system.
Items - These are objects that can be interacted with between places, avatars, wearable items, items that can be carried in and out of Otherside.
Items made with Otherside’s creation tools are interoperable — they can be used anywhere within Otherside, or in any other metaverse that meets those standards. To achieve this, Otherside is working with Improbable’s M² Network to create a set of open object standards that describe what objects are, how they look, and how they behave:
Metadata Ontology - We will allow objects to be tagged with descriptors from the Otherside Metadata Ontology, enabling common gaming behaviors.
Example: marking an object as a chair makes it sitable, marking an object as a ball makes it pickable and throwable.
Metadata tags will follow the ERC-721 metadata JSON standard.
2D Images - We support common image formats, starting with PNG, JPG, and more will be added as Voyagers demand them.
3D Objects - We support 3D models (including meshes, materials, cameras, textures, animations, and everything you need to make a complete model) through the popular glTF format. These objects can respond to lighting and physics effects in the engine.
Universal Scripting System - We will support attaching scripts to objects and worlds to define and extend their behavior.
The current prototype uses JavaScript and is being tested at scale.
Objects built using this open standard will be fully supported within Otherside, any M² Metaverse Network project, and any external project that adopts this standard.
In order to create an object in Otherside, you need to perform two steps. First: create or obtain a template for the object, and second: make the object using a resource.
Data
1. Fan data: Currently there are 158,000 fans on Discord and 260,000 fans on twitter. This size is because from my current point of view, chain games are still OK.
2. Revenue data
A total of 55,000 pieces were sold, and the price of each piece was 2 ETH, so a total of 110,000 ETH were sold. The total transaction volume on opensea was 615,000, and the royalty income was 5%, which is 30,000 ETH. As mentioned yesterday, the current total amount of the entire network, Opensea accounts for about 40%, so the entire network has almost 75,000 ETH. So his current total income should be more than 200,000 ETH. Even if calculated based on the current price of Ethereum, the total revenue is still US$400 million.
The final summary is as follows. By analyzing these top NFTs, we found that these top NFTs really attract money, easily earning hundreds of millions of dollars in annual income. Then through today’s research, we found that the world view of otherside’s game is very large, and the game’s The gameplay is very rich, and there are many types of elements. Yuga Labs is fully investing in research and development. Why do I think this other side can rise? First, Yuga Labs is indeed the top operating team at present. Second, it is too rich. I have analyzed it before and just rely on BAYC. In terms of annual revenue of hundreds of millions, today's analysis of playing otherside is another hundreds of millions, and there is also the APE token issued, so their team has a lot of money on hand, and they invest hundreds of millions of dollars in research and development of a game, which is absolutely indispensable. Third, his current fan base is still relatively large. We analyzed azuki before. He expanded new fans by issuing new NFTs, but he did not do it well (Elements), but yugalabs was smarter and issued 200,000 yuan. Land and APE coin, as long as someone sells land or tokens, they will become its fans, which expands its group size. Through this research and analysis, we found that Yagalabs is still preparing to launch a big game. If the game can come out in this bull market, then its entire ecosystem will detonate.
