According to Techcrunch, research by CB Insights shows that Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) will invest more in fintech than other categories in 2022. Sequoia Capital and a16z invested 100 and 206 transactions respectively last year, with fintech accounting for nearly a quarter of both companies' transactions.

Last year, Sequoia invested in 25 companies in the financial services sector, with its three major fintech targets being capital markets, payments, and wages and benefits, each accounting for 16% of its investments. A16z invested in 49 companies in the fintech sector last year, with its three major fintech investment targets being payments (28%), blockchain (22%), and digital loans (12%). That is, a16z invested in 11 blockchain companies last year, including Aztec, Dynamic, Lido, Phantom, etc.
