Binance announces a $2 billion investment with Abu Dhabi-based investment firm MGX.
This deal marks Binance's first institutional investment to date, and it is the largest single investment in a cryptocurrency company, as well as the largest investment made in cryptocurrency (stablecoins). This investment is MGX's first foray into the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, and as part of its broader strategy to support the impact of blockchain on social change, MGX will acquire a minority stake in Binance.
One can only say this is just the beginning, representing a collective backing of Binance by Middle Eastern investors. Currently, Abu Dhabi has been finalized, and next we will see other firms in Dubai and Bahrain. Additionally, the owner of MGX is the Deputy Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the son of the founder of the United Arab Emirates.
