Delta Upgrade to Reduce Fixed Management Costs on OP Chain by Over 90%

According to PANews, OP Labs announced on Twitter that the Delta upgrade will be launched on the OP chain. The upgrade introduces the Span Batches feature, which is expected to reduce the fixed management costs of operating the OP chain by over 90%. Span Batches will support the adoption of the OP stack by lowering the L1 costs of the OP chain, thereby reducing the risks associated with launching new L2s using the OP stack.

Node operators will need to upgrade their nodes before the Delta upgrade takes effect, but there will be no impact on end-users. The Delta upgrade aims to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the OP chain, making it more accessible and attractive for users and developers.
