According to Foresight News, Horizen announced that the ZEN 4.1.0 mandatory software upgrade has been completed, deprecating the main chain shielded pool. Horizen reminds exchanges, mining pools, node operators, and full node wallet users to upgrade to ZEN 4.1.0 immediately if they encounter service interruptions.
The Horizen community approved ZenIP 42204 in June to deprecate the Horizen mainchain shielded pool. After deprecation, all privacy features will be removed from the Horizen mainchain at the consensus level. After the change, ZEN will no longer be a privacy coin. Horizen said the purpose of deprecation is to ensure that Horizen uses privacy technology in a correct and sustainable way to mitigate regulatory threats. Horizen said that the current regulatory environment poses challenges to the accessibility and adoption of privacy cryptocurrencies.
