ChainCatcher reported that according to people familiar with the matter, the US court has approved Meta Platforms (META.O) to acquire virtual reality startup Within Unlimited. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila in San Jose, California, rejected the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) request for a preliminary injunction in a sealed ruling. However, the judge issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting Meta from completing the transaction within a week to give the FTC time to decide whether to appeal.
According to previous news, in July last year, the FTC sued Meta, claiming that the acquisition of Within would give Meta a competitive advantage and help it establish a monopoly in the virtual reality market. (Jinshi)
