On November 8, 2023, UXUY announced the official launch of the Universe service of Taproot Assets, becoming the second provider of this service in the world after Lightning Labs. As an important part of the "UXUY Struck by Lightning" plan, UXUY has taken another step forward in promoting the exploration of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Taproot Assets node providers can add the Universe service provided by UXUY to the Federation Server List of their own nodes by running the following command:

With the launch of the Universe service by UXUY, the Taproot Assets protocol is officially pushed into Multiverse Mode. As an important feature of Taproot v0.3, this will provide complete asset information and proof of asset holders, while providing developers with all the data needed to update Taproot Assets.

What is the Universe service?

The Taproot Asset Universe is a repository of assets and their proofs. A Universe can provide information about a single or multiple asset types (e.g. a specific stablecoin or all stablecoins). It can hold information about issued assets, their quantities and rules, and hold proofs about recent transfers.

The Universe service provided by UXUY is similar to a block browser. While displaying Taproot asset transaction data, it is stored off-chain simultaneously with the Taproot asset client.

With Taproot Assets v0.3, Multiverse Mode will enable multiple Universe servers to operate as a federation, all in sync for a given asset, so that even if the issuer’s server goes offline, the recipient can have many different data sources to verify that the sender’s asset is legitimate.

For on-chain Taproot asset transactions, users need to send and receive assets without both parties being online at the same time. For the recipient, this means being able to generate an address that anyone can send to at any time. Taproot Assets v0.3 achieves this by providing developers with tools to add proof retrieval uniform resource identifiers (URIs) to on-chain addresses. The recipient's wallet will then sync with the specific Universe server detailed by that URI in order to download the off-chain proof data they need to send newly received assets in the future, thereby achieving a seamless experience for user wallets to receive asynchronously.

UXUY not only provides the Universe service required by developers, but also launches the Taproot browser for traders. Users can query and capture valuable and potential assets in the Taproot Assets ecosystem at the first time. Universe will also contribute to Bitcoin connecting to the Ethereum and BNB ecosystems. After Taproot is launched on the Bitcoin Lightning Network, users can quickly complete transactions and asset transfers on the highly secure and low-cost Bitcoin Lightning Network.

In order to better serve Bitcoin Taproot Assets, UXUY plans to upgrade the Taproot Assets browser and enable the TaprootScan.io domain name, aiming to become one of the most important infrastructures in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
