Fraudsters created a fake Etherscan clone site

Phishing scammers are spreading fake news about a $37 million Uniswap exploit using a convincing fake Blockworks website.

Fraudsters have created a fake blockchain clone site to trick users and drain their cryptocurrency wallets. They cloned the websites of cryptocurrency publication Blockworks and Ethereum blockchain scanner Etherscan, and then posted fake news about a multimillion-dollar exploit on the decentralized exchange Uniswap.

In posts on Reddit, they encouraged users to visit a fake site to cancel their endorsements. The fake sites are very similar to the originals, but in fact they contain programs that allow scammers to access users' wallets and drain them of cryptocurrency. Blockchain security company Beosin noted that the leaker was not configured correctly and did not prompt for a phishing transaction after connecting the wallet. Fake websites have been registered recently and scammers are using different sources of information to spread their attacks. Scam Sniffer reported that the fake websites Blockworks and Decrypt are owned by different scammers.
