A group of treasure hunters, inspired by the movie 'The Goonies', and their own journey & adventure, have discovered a blockchain treasure called KWIF, Kitten Wif Hat. What does that mean? Listen to an exciting, ongoing story brought to you by Pedro Garcia, crypto chart analyst for DYOR Media.
Crypto Treasure Hunter Discovers Hidden Pump.fun Memecoin
Crypto Twitter is made up of many smaller communities. One common trait of all the most successful communities is work ethic. Their members are constantly working hard. Whether you’re talking about developers creating better technology, traders fighting in the order book, or marketers spreading their message, they’re all working hard to move the entire space forward.
This is certainly true for a group that searches through blockchain data for hidden value, in much the same way that treasure hunters search for historical artifacts with metal detectors and historical research. I spoke with Vibes, an avid blockchain sleuth, who said, “I love treasure hunting, I love puzzles. Breadcrumbs, every step toward something new.” Her dedication is evident. When we spoke, she had been up for more than 60 hours after discovering KWIF and was still energized.
Shogun, a self-described “Ligma chad” who was the creator of the memecoins WYAC and GOAT (both of which deserve their own mention), told me how he and others discovered KWIF. It was found by accident while they were searching for relics on the Solana blockchain. By their definition, a relic is a digital artifact that has value, such as a token or a piece of art that is unique for a variety of reasons. For example, perhaps a coin contract that was the first of its kind to be deployed, or an NFT from an address that then went on to create more popular works. Shogun and others were searching for relics on Solana when they stumbled upon KWIF.
Before we move on, let’s dive into a small topic that is important to the story – Pump.fun. For those unfamiliar with the cryptocurrency phenomenon, Pump.fun is a cryptocurrency platform, launched in January 2024, that allows users to instantly create and trade memecoins. As of October 2024, Pump.fun has facilitated the deployment of over 2.5 million memecoins, most of which have gone to zero. Notable memecoins from pump.fun are Michi (MICHI) and Mother (MOTHER).
Back to the story. Shogun and his team of quants stumbled upon a set of five transactions that were hidden on Pump.fun. Hidden in the sense that they were not searchable through the Pump.fun interface, but could be located on the blockchain for those with the knowledge to find them. These five transactions occurred after Pump.fun was live, but before it was publicly launched. They were likely test transactions to ensure Pump.fun’s features were bug-free.
The first transaction is a buy and sell test. The second transaction is a penis upload, most likely a nude test. The third transaction is for burgers and fries, the fourth transaction is a "hello world" test. The fifth transaction is a Kitten Wif Hat with the code KWIF, which has the following image:

KWIF qualifies as a relic, a valuable digital asset, and the genesis of blockchain, not only because it was the first meme launched on Pump.fun, but also because it was implemented by Alon, one of the co-founders of Pump fun. One of Alon's verified wallets has implemented KWIF.
Shogun emphasized to me that this is a “community takeover” of KWIF. This means that they did not launch KWIF, so they have no official control over the coin, but through their enthusiasm and belief in the value of the dormant coin, they have taken over the role of supporting and promoting Kitten Wif Hat. Shogun, Vibes, and many others believe in KWIF with a cult-like fervor. There is a lot of meme value there, too.
Again, this is the first memecoin animal ever created on the most popular memecoin creation platform in crypto, Pump.fun. It was hidden from the public until Shogun and his team stumbled upon it while grinding in the trenches. This is the first token created by the co-founder of Pump.fun. It is a cat, WITH a hat. It is on Solana, the epicenter of memecoins this cycle.
