On October 16, the ZK hardware acceleration project Cysic Network announced a partnership with Ethereum L2 Scroll to integrate zero-knowledge computing capabilities into the blockchain to accelerate the expansion of Ethereum.
The collaboration focuses on improving transaction efficiency and security on the Ethereum blockchain by integrating Cysic’s cutting-edge zero-knowledge (ZK) computing technology.
1. Introduction to Scroll (SCR)
Scroll is an Ethereum expansion solution based on zkEVM (zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine) Rollup, which aims to solve the high transaction fees and congestion problems faced by Ethereum and improve the scalability of Ethereum. As a second-layer expansion solution for Ethereum, Scroll uses zero-knowledge proof technology to bundle off-chain transactions and then verify them on the Ethereum mainnet, thereby reducing transaction costs and processing time.

2. How Scroll works
1. Technical foundation
zkEVM: This is the core of Scroll technology, which allows any Ethereum application to easily start on Scroll without additional code modifications or expensive audits. zkEVM uses concise zero-knowledge proofs to guarantee the correct execution of native EVM bytecode, providing guarantees for the state transition function of the EVM itself.
Rollup technology: Scroll is created based on zkRollup (zero-knowledge rollup) technology, which combines multiple transactions into a single proof submitted to the Ethereum network, which greatly reduces the data load on Ethereum, enabling faster and cheaper transactions.
2. Workflow
1. Transaction execution and sorting: The user's transaction is first submitted to the Scroll network.
The Sequencer is responsible for receiving and ordering these transactions and then packaging them into blocks.
2. Proof generation: For each block, the Coordinator randomly selects a Roller to generate a validity proof.
Roller uses zkEVM technology to generate zero-knowledge proofs for transactions within blocks. These proofs guarantee the correctness and security of transactions.
The generated proof will be submitted to the Coordinator for verification
3. Data submission and verification: Once the proof is verified, the block data and its validity proof will be submitted to the Ethereum mainnet.
Smart contracts on the Ethereum mainnet verify these proofs and confirm the validity of the block.
4. Final Confirmation: Once the block is finalized on the Ethereum mainnet, users on the Scroll network can consider their transactions to have been successfully completed.
3. Security and Decentralization
Security: Scroll's security is based on the most secure, decentralized consensus mechanism at the bottom of Ethereum, while using the mathematical guarantees of zero-knowledge cryptography to ensure the security of transactions. This means that users do not have to trust any third party to ensure the safety of their funds.
Decentralization: Scroll is committed to decentralization at all levels, including node operators, attesters, and the community of developers and users. By building in the open with the community and developing a reliable path to decentralization of proofs and ordering, Scroll aims to ensure that the protocol and community are dynamic and resilient to censorship or coordinated attacks.
Scroll (SCR) Token Economics
According to the Binance announcement, the total supply of Scroll (SCR) tokens is 1 billion, and the initial circulating supply is 190 million (accounting for 19% of the total supply).
Scroll’s smart contracts will be deployed on the Scroll Network. The total Launchpool reward is 55 million SCR, accounting for 5.5% of the total token supply.
Of these, 85% of the rewards (46.75 million SCR) are allocated to the BNB pool, and 15% of the rewards (8.25 million SCR) are allocated to the FDUSD pool.
5. Team Background
Founders and core members
The Scroll team was co-founded by Ye Zhang, Sandy Peng and Haichen Shen.
Zhang Ye: I studied undergraduate at Peking University. I started working on ZK proofs in 2018, mainly researching zk proof hardware acceleration and zk cryptographic algorithm principles. My doctoral studies were also focused on zk.
Haichen Shen: He studied at Tsinghua University Yao Class for his undergraduate degree and received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. His research direction is in the field of underlying systems. After graduation, he worked at Amazon to build machine learning systems. He has strong engineering skills and is good at putting theory into practice.
Sandy Peng: Graduated from Cambridge University, worked in research at the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission. In 2017, he started to invest in Web3 projects. He also worked on games and product projects before. Currently, he is responsible for non-technical work in the team and is familiar with the brand operation of the start-up team.

Team size and structure
The Scroll team will have more than 40 members in 2022, of which more than 30 are ZK or blockchain researchers and developers. The entire team is still relatively technical, and there are relatively few non-technical members responsible for ecological operations. In addition, the team is also relatively "decentralized", with members scattered around the world including China, the United States, Singapore, Europe, etc.
Team achievements and contributions
The Scroll team developed the world's first true zkEVM (zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine) and adopted the advanced Halo2 proof system, which is the most EVM-compatible zkEVM on the market.
The Scroll team also proposed the first ZK hardware accelerator, PipeZK, opened up the ZK hardware market, and built its own GPU zkEVM prover, which is 10 times faster than CPU.
Team Vision and Mission
The Scroll team's mission is to bring billions of users into the Ethereum ecosystem, becoming the most secure and trusted Layer 2 network processing trillions of dollars in on-chain transactions, and the default platform for new innovations. Scroll's vision is to provide equal access to a global network of distributed applications and services for everyone, anywhere.
