Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has launched Ledger Recover, a subscription-based seed recovery service in partnership with blockchain protection firm Coincover. The feature, currently available on Ledger Nano X, allows users to back up their recovery seed phrases, providing an enhanced layer of security. With Ledger Recover, users' private keys are encrypted, fragmented into three pieces, and securely distributed to Ledger, Coincover, and EscrowTech. Despite the launch, the service has faced criticism from the crypto community, with concerns about the potential vulnerability of private keys. However, Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier believes the feature addresses the issue of users losing their digital assets due to forgotten seed phrases.
