STJ rules that assets of the Bitcoin Pharaoh should compensate investors instead of going to the Union
The bankruptcy plan of GAS Consultoria, the Bitcoin Pharaoh's company, was stalled at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), awaiting a decision on the case. Now, Minister Nancy Andrighi has put an end to the dispute.
It all started in October 2023, when two courts in Rio de Janeiro disagreed on how to treat the GAS Bankruptcy Estate. Thus, the case ended up at the STJ in a dispute that directly affected the possibility of clients recovering their investments or not.
This is because the Federal Court of the 3rd Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, which judges the criminal actions of Glaidson and his accomplices, still holds the seized assets. And the criminal judges understood that the assets should go to the Union, that is, to the government, given the criminal nature of the company.
