According to records from the Bureau of Prisons, Ryan Salame, a convicted former FTX official, voluntarily surrendered to FCI Cumberland on October 11, 2024, this information was published by TinTucBitcoin.
Salame received a 90-month prison sentence for his role in the 2022 FTX collapse after pleading guilty in 2023 to operating a money transmission business without a license and violating campaign finance laws.
He attempted to delay his October 11 confession date to December 7, 2024 — citing medical treatment related to a dog bite — but was strongly opposed by prosecutors and denied by Judge Lewis Kaplan in an October 10 ruling.
Salame remains undaunted by prison sentence
Despite multiple attempts to delay the start of his prison sentence, the former FTX official said he was not too fazed by the 7.5-year sentence.
Salame joked that he changed his Twitter profile and updated his LinkedIn page to show that he is now an inmate at the Cumberland Correctional Institution in Maryland.

Laura Shin's Interview Reveals Everything
Unchained podcast host Laura Shin interviewed Salame shortly before he began his prison sentence in an episode that aired the day he turned himself in to prison authorities.
When asked about withdrawing nearly $600,000 in cryptocurrency amid FTX's collapse, the former official told Shin that it was “Not my best decision,” explaining that all of his assets were in FTX.
Salame said he needed the money to pay for legal fees but admitted he shouldn’t have taken it out. Furthermore, Salame claimed that at least some of the money was never spent and had been returned to the Justice Department weeks before the Unchained podcast aired.
The former official also revealed plans to get a law degree in the interview. Salame said he had no intention of practicing law but wanted to gain legal knowledge to defend himself — arguing that previous legal advice was inadequate and led to criminal charges.
