According to TheMinerMag, the city of Thorndale, Texas, USA, passed a resolution in support of local residents, expressing opposition to the establishment of a 15-megawatt Bitcoin mining facility in the area. The project was proposed by Data Factory Austin and planned to be built in Milam County near Thorndale. However, local residents expressed concerns about the project and launched a petition to try to stop the development of the project. The petition pointed out that Bitcoin mining consumes a huge amount of electricity, consuming the equivalent of the daily electricity consumption of 10,500 households. At the same time, Bitcoin itself has no intrinsic value, and non-participating citizens should not be burdened with high electricity bills.
