According to Foresight News, the newly formed Electronic Fraud Investigation Unit (BCI) of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has recovered $130,000 in funds involved in a crypto scam, according to Bitcoin.com. Officials said the crypto scam targeted a 75-year-old woman in Worthington, Ohio, who was defrauded of $1,000 and deposited into a Bitcoin ATM after receiving a fraudulent message on her computer. Since then, the scam has escalated, and the victim has continued to deposit more money as required, losing a total of about $280,000. With the timely intervention of BCI, the department worked with the Worthington Police Department to successfully track and freeze the stolen funds on the chain, allowing it to recover about $130,000.
