Social Media Platform X Resumes Operations in Brazil
According to Cointelegraph, social media platform X is set to resume operations in Brazil within 24 hours following an October 8 ruling by Brazilian Judge Alexandre de Moraes. The platform was blocked on August 30 for failing to comply with Brazilian court orders related to an investigation into the spread of disinformation in the country.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes stated in his ruling, “I hereby order the suspension to be lifted and allow the resumption of the activities of X Brasil Internet Ltda. immediately within the national territory. I also order Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) to take the necessary steps to implement this measure, with a report to this Supreme Court within 24 (twenty-four) hours.”
The payment of the fine was confirmed on October 7 after unusual circumstances. On October 4, the funds related to the penalties imposed by Judge Alexandre de Moraes for the social network’s violations were mistakenly deposited into the wrong bank account. Last week, the proceeds paid by Musk’s satellite company, Starlink, were transferred to the correct account.
This is a developing story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.
