Japanese gaming giant Square Enix is developing multiple blockchain games based on the company’s intellectual property for release this year. The company’s president, Yosuke Matsuda, has reaffirmed his commitment to integrating blockchain technology with video games.
It is reported that Square Enix has produced world-renowned games such as "Final Fantasy" and "Kingdom Hearts". As of March 31, 2022, Square Enix recorded net sales of 365.2 billion yen (US$2.8 billion). In November 2022, Square Enix announced the launch of its first NFT game Symbiogenesis. But Square Enix fans have been dissatisfied with the company's adoption of blockchain technology, citing distrust of digital assets, concerns about the potential environmental harm of the technology, and the low quality of blockchain games.
