Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is all set to boost internet connectivity in the country by giving license to Elon Musk-led satellite internet venture Starlink.

PTA officials reported that the decision to issue the license has been finalised, with only security clearance pending.

PTA representatives confirmed that "the license for Starlink is ready; we are just waiting for security clearance."

The rollout of Starlink's high-speed satellite internet service is expected to significantly improve connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas where traditional broadband options are often limited or slow.

In addition to the license, Starlink will need to enter into a commercial agreement with Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SPARCO). The agreement will also require the approval of the PTA.

If all goes according to plan, Starlink is expected to launch its services in Pakistan within the next year, providing reliable and fast satellite internet access to residents across the country.
