Ethereum co-founder Buterin Chia has made new revelations, showing the possibility of integrating with artificial intelligence (AI) in the medium to long term.
Responding to community members during an AMA session on decentralized social protocol Warpcast, Buterin said artificial intelligence continues to be one of the ideas that has popped into his head over the past two weeks.
Although Buterin did not elaborate on the specific details of what he had in mind, he said that he is actively participating in the XEM Ethereum community on ways to effectively participate in artificial intelligence-related issues.
Some of the issues he highlighted include X-risk, a concept that shows how humans are being harmed on a global scale. Recently, proponents have mentioned the possibility that blockchain technology can coexist with artificial intelligence. Based on the revolutionary technologies that underpin both concepts, the combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain is seen as a future solution to some of the world’s biggest challenges to date.
While there are a number of cryptocurrency projects exploring AI solutions to date, XEM’s Vai, Buterin’s advocacy for the concept within the wider digital currency ecosystem, offers a different perspective.
Buterin has not yet revealed a timeline for any potential involvement.
Some of the blockchain protocols pioneering AI initiatives include SingularityNET and the Cardano-powered Rendering Network, among others.
The value propositions of these projects are different. While SingularityNET is building the first decentralized AI network that allows anyone to create, monetize, and run ChiaAI services at scale, Render is a distributed GPU rendering network that connects artists and studios that need GPU computing power with mining partners.
Both protocols maintain very strong token economics, and they have grown over time, indicating a surge in interest in AI-centric crypto projects.
