It’s been a long 11 months for NFT gaming enthusiasts who were promised a $1.8 million refund after their losses in Logan Paul’s NFT game CryptoZoo. Paul announced and promoted the game in 2021, but it underperformed and caused its investors to incur heavy losses for which they still await compensation.

The Initial Announcement: Hopes Raised and Expectations Set

Paul launched CryptoZoo in 2021 as an NFT-focussed play-to-earn game that allowed players to earn ZOO the native cryptocurrency of the game and then use them to purchase eggs. The resulting eggs could now be hatched to reveal different animal images, after which – by combining animals, one can make hybrid animals – which they can sell in-game to earn more ZOO.

The operational cycle was meant to be repetitive and offer players a viable opportunity to make money in the game and convert to real cash when they wish, however, plans were cut short by the controversies that would follow. The game’s tragedy began when Paul and his team posted initial pictures of in-game creatures. Many called out Paul and his team for using photoshopped stock images of regular animals instead of rare NFT-like images for the game.

One of the most notable critics of Paul’s game was Youtuber Stephen Findeisen a.k.a Coffeezilla who called out Paul in several videos for his dishonesty about several components of his NFT game, decrying Paul’s alleged deceptive techniques in relation to his NFT game.

Paul responded to the allegations in a video, detailing his take on the whole matter and admitting he missed it by hiring some wrong people as part of the project team. But he wouldn’t accept he employed any deceptive tactics in his NFT venture.

Earlier in January, the social media influencer and WWE champion stated the game was in its developmental stage, but that he’d commit over $1.8 million to those who would want to cash out amidst the game’s controversies before it fully materialized.

Months of Anticipation: The Prolonged Wait and Growing Investor Concerns

Since his promise to commit “1.8M for those who do not want to wait for CryptoZoo to be completed,” the NFT game investors have yet to hear from him again. The deafening silence provoked Youtuber Coffeezilla to speak up again. In June this year, after 6 months of silence, Findeisen took to X (previously Twitter) to call out Paul again on behalf of his aggrieved and allegedly defrauded NFT gaming investors.

“Hey Logan, was promising $1.8 million in refunds to CryptoZoo victims, and 6 months later not paying “another masterclass in marketing”?

Asking for all the people who got scammed by you and the criminals you hired,” wrote Coffeezilla on X.

He continued his tweet by throwing shades at Paul and citing his January $1.8 million promise.

“$1.8M in refunds “for those who do not want to wait”.

$0 delivered.

Good marketing Logan,” adds Coffeezilla.

It’s not certain when Logan Paul will reimburse his NFT community members, especially since he didn’t include a timeline. However, 11 months is already a long time, and it’s either he stays true to the commitment or sees it escalate in the coming months.
